What is float therapy?
Updated: Feb 10, 2018
Float therapy is also known as Reduced Environmental Stimulation Therapy (REST). Simply explained it's climbing into a sensory deprivation tank and floating in a shallow pool of Epsom salt water (magnesium sulfate). The goal is to relax, meditate, and soak in the Epsom Salts reducing. This will reduce your stress, anxiety, and increase the rate of muscular repair.
Half of Americans are magnesium deficient and even more suffer from high levels of stress and anxiety. After a 60 to 90 minute float, you'll notice significant health benefits, both physically and mentally.

While you float two different physiological reactions are happening.
Your body is soaking in the pharmaceutical grade Epsom Salts, which have a variety of medical benefits as listed below.
You're mind and body enter a deep state of meditation due to reduced sensory stimulation.
What are Epsom Salts good for?
At Sanctuary Float, we use pharmaceutical grade Epsom Salts, which is comprised of the minerals Magnesium and Sulfate. These salts get soaked into your skin while you float, completely saturating your body with the energizing Magnesium that our bodies lack so much. The benefits of these salts include:
Treats pain and muscle cramps
Natural skin exfoliant
Anti-inflammation remedy
Treats dry skin
Heals sore muscles
Treats small wounds
Helps fight illness.
Weight loss
Reduced bronchial asthma
Helps prevent migraine headaches
What is the Reduced Environmental Stimulation Therapy (REST) good for?
It's no question that most people today are constantly getting completely overloaded with electronic sounds, unnatural light, and way more information to process than we were evolutionarily made to handle. Our bodies aren't made for the type of environment that exists in the world today and the result of this dissonance is poor mental health, high levels of ADD, and disturbingly high levels of stress, anxiety, and depression. Sensory reduction helps you get into a deep state of healing meditation that helps with:
Reduced stress
Improved concentration / attention span
Deeper sleep
Increased self awareness
Increased happiness
Slows aging
Decreases fear and anxiety
Promotes relaxation (even outside floating)
Get better at meditating outside of floating
These benefits are startling, especially because of the world we live in today. Nearly everyone could benefit for better rest and less stress. Those who see the most benefits are high performers like athletes, professionals, and people who undergo stress at their workplace.
Just 60 minutes every two weeks could save you hours of time through increased focus and productivity, plus increased health and happiness, so why not give it a try and see if it's for you?
